Azienda Agricola Cortese

Nostru Carricante di Az. Agr. Cortese

Stefano and Marina Girelli, brothers from Trentino for three generations in the world of wine, fell in love with Sicily in 2001. In 2016 they purchased the Cortese Farm in the Ragusa hinterland. Soon the two spouses understood that Sicily was an undervalued wine region and that the potential to produce quality organic wines. This is possible thanks to a territory that recovers its integrity to resist, adapt and renew itself. they have recovered ancient winemaking techniques, the expression of those who before them have been in those lands such as fermentation in terracotta jars. Their production is divided into two categories: selection and nostru.

We tasted the Carricante produced with grapes of the homonymous vine. At sight it has a straw yellow color enriched with greenish reflections. Its scent is elegant and varied: white fruit, apple and citrus. On the palate it reveals its remarkable structure and its qualities of acidity and flavor.

Our Carricante is a wine that accompanies, for its quality and its aromas, fish dishes whether they are appetizers, first courses, fries and second courses.

Lo Zoccolaio

Barbera d’Alba della cascina Lo Zoccolaio

The Lo Zoccolaio farmhouse has 30 hectares of vineyards, 14 of which are cultivated with Nebbiolo from Barolo, also has plots in Monforte d’Alba, Novello and Verduno. The virtue of the cellar lies in the perfect balance between respect for tradition and its enrichment with innovation and freshness. It produces exclusively red wines: Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. We have tasted Barbera d’Alba “Suculé” made with Barolo grapes, the handmade harvest. Thanks to a long aging in barrique, this Barbera is of the highest quality and longevity. the special bottle, very heavy, recalls the bottles of the past and enhances their qualities and organoleptic characteristics. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. A malolactic fermentation follows. The wine ages in French barriques for 18 months and ages in bottle for 6 months before being sold. On visual examination, a bright red color emerges. Approaching the nose to the glass, aromas of red fruit and vanilla emerge. The sip is soft and balanced with a good persistence. Recommended match with meat and boiled meats. For this wine, given its celebrity and importance, we decided to make a video that you could see at the top of the page. We hope you enjoy.
